As you can see, it was a two-tone, black and silver/grey. Beautiful :-). I had to let it go in '82. It was 5 years old, and with harsh winters, I started to change parts, and with a new baby in the family, I did not want to get stuck, so changed for a new car. A Honda Civic 5-door -- talk about a big change." -Denis Patenaude

| 303. "I'll give you a little history on this car: I just recently purchased it from the original owner, a gentleman that had bought it for a second car to drive while they wintered in Tucson. They are from Wisconsin. They bought the car in Wisconsin, and had it there the first year and then brought it to Tucson, where it has been since. It has been garaged all of its life, so everything is in good shape. The paint is original, the Vinyl top is nice, good color, and not dried out. The dash is not cracked either. Seats are great. It, of course, is not a 'perfect' car, but probably one of the most optioned / original condition ones around anywhere.
"I originally purchased it for my second son, who will start driving next fall. I have an 18-year-old boy that already has a excellent, low-mileage '75 Valiant (V8/AC/CD strereo) that he likes better than the Pacer. My second son is not really crazy about the car either -- to young, I suppose, for the Wayne's World thing. Anyway, since he doesn't care if he drives the Pacer, I thought I'd just re-sell it & get him something else this summer." -Greg (FLaMe1951)

Updated 11 May 2004: "I did sell the Pacer. It went to Kansas. A dentist there bought the car for his son that was in his first year in college. The car made quite a hit on campus & was photographed with a ton of kids in it for the college yearbook." |
| 304. travis-cge.jpg,Travis' CGE Pacer,t Travis was working on restoring this Pacer, originally built by Carl Green, in early 2003. He's looking for additional information on this car, so if you know anything, please contact me, and I'll put you in touch with him.
He says: "I've had this car since I turned 16 in 1987. I'm building a 360 motor for it, and it already had a 411 rear-end in it -- it was a very fast car. I had a magazine it was in, but when I was going through a divorce, she threw it away..."

Can you imagine I fell in love right away when the former owner sent me these pics by email. I didn't enjoy at first, because of a broken starter. That was fixed soon, though." -Malcolm Kukupessy, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

"It is so funny how modern society either has no idea what kind of car these are, or remembers thinking how ugly they were back then, yet loves them now. I have owned this car for many years, and it still kills me to see the people in the car next to you in a state of confusion and wonder. I have many fond Pacer memories, as I am sure you do as well. This car is my daily driver and it never sits still." -Jeremy Orth

He said: "This pacer belonged to Dave Hooper of Canada. I bought it from him and redid the body, floors, paint, windshield, painted the interior. It has 28,000 miles according to Dave. Was 33,000 km. I put in a US speedo and reset it to 000000."

I purchased the car in 1999 from a coworker's mother in Morro Bay, California. It was on a ranch down there all of its life. It made the drive up to the San Francisco Bay area leaking every fluid that you could imagine. Anyway, thought I would share a few pics with you." -Craig Agnew

Today we went out and took photos of it and asked friends what it could be. Finally we found out that it was a AMC Pacer. American cars are rare here, especially old ones. We followed some links and came to your homepage. The Pacer is registered in southern Austria (Spittal/Drau = political district, Carinthia = state) and seems to be in good condition." -Christian & Dani

| 318. "After years of prodding my best friend's father-in-law to sell me his '77 Pacer wagon, he finally called me and I was able to purchase it. That was in 1998. The car had the usual rust areas and the bodywork was completed in early 2000. The car has 57,000 miles. The interior was nearly spotless except for the carpet which will be part of an interior detailing project. Recently I was finally able to find a set of AMC rims which really has changed the overall look of 'Suavito.'" -Albert Leemhuis

Anyway, I just wanted to send you a rough pic of render of some special effects I did for my student film... er, I mean, it's just a picture I took the other day after we finished installing the flux capacitor. | 324. "Short story: When I was around 15 years old, the new AMC Pacer was introduced to the market. I wanted one so badly! I wanted it to be my 'sweet 16' car, but alas, my father was helping me with the purchase and he did not like them ('piece of junk' is what he called it). So, (many moons later) in December 2002, when I was thinking about getting a new car, I ran across a picture in my old High School scrap book of a Pacer that I cut from an ad and decided to hunt one down. I found one close to me in TN, drove up to see it and ended up driving it home! After much work (I did most of it myself), I proudly entered it in the Oct. 2003 SE Regional AMO show in Atlanta and took a Silver Award! I feel great knowing that I could "save one" from the crusher and drive a lasting tribute to the designers of such a neat little automobile.
